Folkstore

The North Country Folkstore is TAUNY’s museum shop. The Folkstore features authentic, handmade products from more than a hundred individuals and families throughout the region. It provides an outlet for local traditional artists to sell their items and a resource for visitors to find local products for souvenirs and gifts.

Proceeds from Folkstore sales support TAUNY’s educational programs, including performances, demonstrations, and workshops by master traditional artists. We appreciate your enthusiastic support.

Each month the work of a different Folkstore artist or producer's work is highlighted in the Featured Artist series. On one Saturday during that month, the artist comes to the Folkstore to demonstrate and speak with visitors about his or her work.

What's New at the Folkstore?

To complement the "Sweet Beginnings" exhibit on display in the TAUNY Gallery, the Folkstore is featuring maple products from syrup and candy to coffee, cheese, and mustard. Check out the maple soaps, lotions, and body scrubs, too!

Claire Poirier, 2nd Time Around, recycles used coats and sweaters into fabulous creations for people and their pets. Poirier, who lives in Malone, recently retired and started her business about a year ago. From recycled wool, Poirier makes mittens and hats, purses, handbags and clutches, and, yes, even doggy coats, as modeled by Finn!
